Update on Baby Boy Hudson — 08/16/2026
Hudson has had a GOOD day, and we are so incredibly thankful! There have been no major changes today, and honestly, these are the days we pray for. In the middle of so much uncertainty, we have learned to appreciate the quiet, steady days more than ever. A day without setbacks, without unexpected changes, and without new concerns is a beautiful gift. Today was one of those days, and we are holding onto that gratitude tonight.
Over the past 24 hours, Hudson’s oxygen requirement has been between 32–40%. Most of the time, especially while he has been awake, he has stayed around 35–40%. We are thankful that he has been able to maintain his oxygen levels within that range and that there have not been any major changes in his respiratory needs. We know there is still a road ahead of him, but every stable day gives us another reason to be hopeful.
One of the sweetest parts of today was getting to spend some really special time with our boy. This morning, we got to soak up some of the best cuddles, and we honestly cannot put into words how much those moments mean to us. Being able to hold him close, watch him relax, and simply enjoy being together is something we never take for granted. These are the moments we dream about during the harder days—the ordinary moments that somehow feel extraordinary because of everything Hudson has been through.
We also got to play and giggle with him so much today, and he was in the BEST mood! Seeing his personality shine through is one of our favorite things. His smiles, his little expressions, his giggles, and the way he interacts with us remind us that he is so much more than his numbers, oxygen settings, labs, and medical updates. He is our sweet boy with a big personality and such a happy spirit.
Today was a reminder that even in the middle of a difficult journey, there can still be joy. There can still be laughter. There can still be cuddles and smiles and moments that make everything feel a little lighter. We are so thankful that Hudson had a day where he could simply be happy and enjoy time with his family.
There may not be a lot of medical information to share today, but we are actually incredibly thankful for that. Sometimes “no changes” is exactly the update we want. In the NICU and through everything we have experienced with Hudson, we have learned that progress does not always mean something dramatic happens. Sometimes progress looks like maintaining. Sometimes it looks like having a calm day. Sometimes it looks like needing the same amount of oxygen instead of more. Sometimes it looks like a happy baby who has enough energy to play, smile, cuddle, and giggle.
Those moments may seem small to someone on the outside, but to us, they are huge.
We are choosing to celebrate today for exactly what it was: a calm, happy, GOOD day with our boy. These are the days we pray for. These are the days that give us encouragement to keep going, even when the road ahead still feels long and uncertain.
As we look toward tomorrow, we would be so grateful if you would continue to pray for us and for Chris as we navigate this journey. There are so many emotions that come with being parents in this situation. Some days are filled with hope and excitement, while other days bring fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty. We are doing our best to take everything one day at a time and to stay focused on Hudson and what he needs.
Please also continue to pray for Hudson’s amazing care team. We are incredibly grateful for the people who care for him, watch over him, monitor his numbers, and advocate for him each day. Their knowledge, compassion, patience, and dedication mean so much to our family. Please pray that they will continue to have wisdom and discernment as they make decisions about his care and that they will continue to be encouraged as they walk alongside our family.
Most importantly, please continue to pray for our sweet boy.
We are specifically praying that Hudson’s labs in the morning will continue to show improvement. Every good lab result gives us another reason to be hopeful, and we are asking God for continued progress. Please pray that the numbers they are watching will move in the right direction and that his body will continue to respond well to everything being done to help him.
Please also pray that his oxygen requirement will stay low. We are thankful for where he has been today, and our prayer is that he will continue to maintain his oxygen needs without having to increase his support. We are praying that his lungs will continue to strengthen and that his body will keep making progress toward needing less assistance.
Another specific prayer request is that Hudson’s work of breathing will not increase. We want him to remain comfortable and not have to work harder to breathe. Please pray that his breathing stays steady and that he continues to tolerate everything well.
And, of course, please pray that he stays his normal, happy, smiley self! That might be one of our favorite prayers of all. Seeing Hudson happy today filled our hearts in a way that is difficult to describe. His smiles and giggles brought so much light into our day. We want him to continue feeling good, enjoying his time with us, and letting that sweet personality shine.
We know there will be harder days ahead, just as there will hopefully be more good days like today. We are learning not to look too far ahead or let ourselves become overwhelmed by everything that still has to happen. Instead, we are choosing to focus on what is right in front of us.
Today, Hudson was happy.
Today, he cuddled.
Today, he played.
Today, he giggled.
Today, his oxygen needs remained within a range we were thankful for.
Today, there were no major changes.
And today, we got another day with our sweet boy.
That is enough for us tonight.
We have learned throughout this journey that sometimes you have to find joy in the smallest victories. A smile can feel like a celebration. A good cuddle can feel like a precious gift. A stable oxygen requirement can be something worth thanking God for. A morning with good labs can bring a tremendous amount of hope. When your child is going through something difficult, you learn to see the beauty in things you might have once considered ordinary.
We are so proud of Hudson. He continues to show us how strong he is, and his happy personality continues to shine even through everything he has faced. He is our little fighter, but he is also our sweet, silly, smiley boy, and getting to see that side of him today was such a blessing.
Thank you to everyone who continues to pray for Hudson, for us, and for his care team. We know we are not walking through this alone. Every prayer, message, encouragement, and kind word means more to us than we can explain. There are days when we feel tired or uncertain, and knowing that people are standing beside us and lifting Hudson up in prayer gives us so much strength.
We may not have a big update today, but sometimes the best updates are the simple ones.
Hudson had a GOOD day.
And for that, we are incredibly thankful.
We will keep taking this journey one day at a time, trusting God with the things we cannot control and celebrating every bit of progress along the way. We do not know exactly what tomorrow will bring, but we are thankful for today.
Please continue to pray for improving labs in the morning, a low and stable oxygen requirement, no increase in his work of breathing, and that our sweet boy will continue to be happy, comfortable, smiling, and full of those precious giggles we love so much.
One good day at a time. One prayer at a time. One little victory at a time.
We love you so much, Hudson. We are so proud of you, sweet boy. ❤️
